My SEOUL FoODie JoURneY in Oct'2012

This is my 3rd trip to Seoul. The previous 2 trips were on packaged tours during winter season whereas this time is on my own ~ free and easy. Autumn is a good season to visit Seoul and the weather is very cooling but it can be very cold at night.  I have collated all my foodie photos that I ate in Seoul.  ^0^

YAYOIKEN Japanese Restaurant

One of my favorite supermarket place in town is Meiyi-da @ Liang Court Shopping Centre where you can easily get imported Japanese groceries and at times, they hold Japan Food Fairs too.   I also like to patronize the Japanese restaurants and deli there ~ such as Tampopo where they serve delicious tonkatsu and kurobuta ramen.  Oh their desserts such as Mont Blanc, Scoop Cake, Cream Puff are so yummy.  Well, I just have a piece of their scoop cake for afternoon tea today.

The other day, I was at Liang Court and suggested to my friends to try out the Japanese food at Yayoiken before heading to our Karaoke singing.  Here were our food orders 1sm210eat

I have always like Calpis soda and candies ever since I tasted them in Japan.
That day, I ordered the Calpis uncarbonated soft drink ~
a light, sweet and tangy yogurt flavor drink.

Ebi Gyoza ~ the ones which we usually ordered are with pork fillings.

You can eat the pickles as much as you want.  It is placed in a container at our dining table.
We had ordered the tuna & corn salad.  I simply love the Japanese salad dressing. So tasty.

Mix Toji ~ Beef, Pork Culet & Fried Prawn topped with eggs.

Mixed Grill Set ~ lotsa meat....these were my friends' order.

This was my order ~ Saba Miso Set
Overall, the restaurant service is good and their food prices are affordable.

R & R day ^-^

Took a day off with K and we went to watch the Disney movie ~ "Rapunzel : A Tangled Tale". It was an awesome movie and the characters were interesting and hilarious too. I love the animation, visual effects and the characters were very well drawn and lively ~ Rapunzel's long golden hair was stunning and her big poppy eyes were lovely. Love EmoticonsFlynn Ryder was charming and funny too. Another 2 funny characters that kept me laughing were Rapunzel's little pet chameleon ~ Pascal and a Palace's guard horse ~ Maximus. The songs in the movie were great and I have posted a soundtrack here ~ Enjoy listeningCute Emoticons

After the movie ended, we went for our lunch at Sapporo Ramen Bishamon which is located at Great World City. As it was a week day, there were not many customers and their service was fast.

Typical bar counter ~ very Nihon look

We like this Tofu Salad very much ~ very refreshing and the dressing was so tasty.
We ordered additional toppings for our salad. Yum Yum

See the Tamago ~ this is what i like it cooked and goes with my ramen!

Okonoiyaki Gyoza ~ taste good too.

Close-up ~ it makes me salivating!

A little disappointing as the seaweed turned soft on my temaki.

A satisfying lunch & keeps me happy for the rest of the day!Animated Gifs

It is 14 days to Christmas & I have yet to finish my shoppingAnimated Gifs

SABOTEN さぼてん

My last visit to PARCO Marina Bay was dining at Keisuke Tokyo Ramen Restaurant. This time, I went with my ex-colleague to Saboten for Tonkatsu. It was a week day and therefore, no queue ~ Phew! I had been wanting to taste their fried pork and see if they were as good as those served at Tonkichi.

Here's my review on their Tonkatsu ~ the pork (loin/fillet) was coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried till crispy on the outside; the meat was tender and juicy (not too oily) ; the bento set came with generously serving of thinly shredded cabbages and a bowl of hot miso soup ~ free flow for both items. However, I still prefer the gohan (rice) at Tonkichi which the texture is shinier, more fragrant and tastier. Overall, it was still a pleasant and satisfying meal. Service was good and staff was friendly and polite too ^.~

Here's mixer bowl of black and white goma (sesame)
~ grind them finely and the goma fragrant just smells good ^.~

Pour a scoop of Tonkatsu sauce into the freshly grinded sesame
which is the dipping sauce for the deep fried pork loin/fillet. The sauce has a rich flavor and just goes well with my Tonkatsu ~ oishii desu ne ^0^

See this lovely glass bottles of salad dressing in creamy goma (sesame) and yuzu (citrus fruit which is vinegar-based dressing) flavors.

Yummy ~ My Tonkatsu set also served with a crab cream croquette and prawn too ^_^

We had the cabbages to eat along with the pork. This could wash away the fatty bits and I also won't feel so guilty after eating all my porky. Hehe :P

Yummylicious!

Hong Kong's Snacks and Desserts

There was occasional rains on the first 2 days when I arrived in Hong Kong (HK). For the rest of the week, the weather was hot and humid which I felt thirsty and dehydrate easily :( Luckily, there are many stalls selling cold beverages and desserts in the shopping malls and streets which I can grab to quench my thirst ^.~ Although the unbearable heat made me discomfort and moody but I still took photos of what I drank and ate to share in my blog hehe ^0^

It was raining quite heavily on my 2nd day in HK so ST and I decided to shop in a mall and went to 旺角中心 (Argyle Centre). The stuff sold in Argyle Centre were cheap and the quality of accessories and clothes were not too bad *v* One thing I like shopping at this place is that we can bargain ^.~ The not so good thingy is that we are disallowed to try on the clothes to see if fit on us :( Anyway, the stuff were good buys so we just went ahead to buy what we liked ^.~ We did not miss out any single shop in the Centre. We done so much walking until my legs were cramped and tired. Also, I almost died of thirst (not hunger) haha! We decided to take a rest and found Happy Lemon on the 1st floor in the Centre. Apparently, Happy Lemon is very popular among the youngsters.

There were many people crowded around the stall so I had to move back and took a pic of their signboard :P We waited awhile before we collected our cold beverages.

Here's another board showing varieties of their beverages.
I couldn't decide my choice of beverage.

ST chose Lemon Honey Juice which is refreshing and full of vitamin C. I bought Pearl Sago Milk Tea. The tea is thick and fragrant; and the pearls are QQ. The cups look kawaii too ^.~

鸡蛋仔 ~ Egg Waffle
It's piping hot so I could only take the photo from the paper bag.
Crispy outside and Soft inside. Taste ~ not sweet.

I love EGGs ~ so how can I miss egg tarts, right! These tarts are from Tai Cheong Bakery (泰昌饼家) As the tarts are freshly baked and just out from hot oven, they are so many people queuing to buy few boxes of the tarts.

MacDonald's in HK. The burgers really cater to Chinese taste ~ yummy!
That's my cup of caramel latte ^.~

Another popular dessert chain ~ 许留山 (Hui Lau Shan) and
they are famous for their mango desserts.

ST and I ordered the mango beverage topped with coconut milk and jelly.

Sob Sob :( ~ Now how can I stop my cravings for these goody snacks and desserts :(
