This will be a short post of my re-visit to SweetSpot @ Marina Bay Sands. I have a sweet tooth so how can I miss those macaroons and cakes from SweetSpot, right ~ In my previous post on Sweetspot, I mentioned that I did not get to taste the Rum & Raisin Cheesecake as they left only the whole cake for sale. I'm glad that I managed to taste it this time
Mooncake Festival is coming soon and here's what SweetSpot offers. I tasted the samples. Not too bad but I still love my Snowskin Durian and Jackfruit Mooncakes; and Flaky Yam Mooncakes.
Lacking of Zzz and needs a cup of coffee to wake me up -_- I've also ordered a apple bun, a big piece of white chocolate and macadamia nuts soft cookie, rum & raisin cheesecake and not forgetting my macaroons ^.~
Ordered a box of 6 macaroons ~ apparently the price gone up to S$2.50 per piece : (
Yum Yum!
A dome-shaped rum & raisin cheesecake. The outer layer is coated with white chocolate and nuts.
My Friday was a busy day but happy too EL and I attended a late night live concert by Tay Kewei at the Esplanade Recital Studio. It was a 1st ticketed concert for Kewei and also in celebration of the launch of her 1st album titled "Come Closer with Kewei". The concert was superb ~ she has a good vocal and a great team of musicians ^.~ Kewei performed few covers and her original works from her debut album. Her debut album was available for sale so I bought it (to show my support of local talents^-^) The concert lasted for an hour. I wish it would extend longer Anyway, I was lucky to purchase the tickets early as it was a sold-out concert.
Love the simple setting of the concert. It was actually my 1st time attending a late concert at 930pm and also 1st time stepping into the recital studio :) It was great!
Here's the MV ~ "Please be Careful with My Heart" by Kewei & Christian Bautista. Enjoy it
EL and I were very hungry after the concert as we skipped our dinner. It was late and many eateries were closed so we went to order and pack some food from the outdoor hawker stalls at the Esplanade. Thereafter, we hurriedly halt a taxi to Marina Bay Sands ("MBS") and checked-in to our hotel room. Thanks to EL for the complimentary stay @MBS.
Here are some photos which I took to share in this post:
A welcome note with EL's name on it which I blank it off in the photo.
A spacious room with a balcony.
Clean interior
A nice executive work desk and the lighting design is nice too.
Views from our hotel room on the 16th storey ~ love the fluffy cotton clouds
Still under construction and when it's completed, the view will be awesome.
The Singapore Flyer and its view nearby
Took this shot when I'm in the lift going up to Sands SkyPark
See those pinky lights ~ they will flash in different colors
Yipee ~ Thanks to the good weather. Swimming in the infinity pool and view the beautiful skyline of Singapore
A great place to relax
The Singapore Youth Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies were held at The Float @Marina Bay
Zoom-in shot of the Marina Barrage taken from our hotel room.
The baking workshop ended at 530pm. My colleagues and I were very tired and hungry so we proceed to have an early dinner at Mellben Seafood. It was located at 211 Toa Payoh Lorong 8. I was told that they have another branch at 232 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3. Mellben Seafood is well known for their crab dishes and you've got to try them ~ the crabs are fresh and tasty! We didn't make any reservation and were lucky to get seats. By the time at 6pm, it was long queue so be there early or else you'll be in the long queue. Anyway, good food worth queuing up, right?
Mellben ~ Here we come
Isn't this cute
Scallop Yam Ring A bit disappointed with this dish as the yam is quite dry.
Crispy Seafood Tofu ~ Slightly too much flour coating.
Thumbs-up for this signature crab dish. The crabs were fresh and meaty The soup was so tasty and went well with bee hoon which was not overly cooked
Thumbs up again for this crab dish
Must order the man tou (fried buns) and dipped with the creamy gravy ~ drooling!
Overall, I would go for Mellben Seafood's signature crab dishes and definitely return to try their chilli and pepper crabs. I'm not sure if the crabs taste better at Ang Mo Kio branch. Perhaps you can share your review with me
