JOE's KITCHEN ~ THAI CUISINE

First of all, HAPPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY to KATE and ROBIN smileys I wish you both a happy life full of love, joy and happiness! 纪念日快乐! 祝你在这特别的日子里快乐幸福。恭喜!

The couple was supposed to meet me for dinner last week but Robin wanted to watch the World Cup matches :( so we postponed it to this week :) Finally the World Cup is over and he can lead a healthier lifestyle now ~ Hey! Bro, you better Zzz early smileys and stop multi-tasking. Regain your health and strength soon so that you bring Sista, "Actualyn" and I for a good meal smileys

Kate suggested for Thai Food @Joe's Kitchen. The restaurant is located at the housing estate at Block 125, Bukit Merah Lane 1. Its interior is orange color (wonder if it is to match the Thai's signature dish - tom yum soup color haha!) and their menusmileys serves the typical Thai home dishes. Here are the dishes ordered by Kate for the 4 of us ^.~

Mango Salad ~ a spicy appetizer. See those chilli padi WooOoo hot hot smileys

Crispy Seafood Tofu ~ Outer is golden brown and crispy. The mixed seafood and tofu paste is well marinated so it's tasty and not very oily. smileys

Stuffed Chicken Wings ~ This is one dish that I will always order when I go for Thai food. It's crunchy inside as they added water chestnut, chicken meat, corn, carrot and mushroom. Not the best that I've tried.

An intruder came into my photo!! Shoo Shoo go awaysmileys

I prefer black olive rice to pineapple rice. Black olives have a salty flavor and also low in fat and cholesterol. smileys

Green Curry Chicken - a little disappointing as the gravy is not thick enough but the chicken pieces are tender and moist.

Sweet Potato Leaves with Garlic ~ Delicious! the leaves are not overcooked ^.~

Fried Prawns ~ The prawns are very fresh and meats are not tough.

Deep Fried Fish Fillets with Special Thai Chilli Sauce ~ After eating one piece, I'm tempted to have more : )

This is their Special Thai Chilli Sauce ~ Not very spicy

Fiery dish is here ~ Tom Yum Seafood Soup! Served with a generous amount of seafood. It is spicy so one bowl for me is enough. smileys

Joe's Kitchen signature dish ~ Thumbs up and must order smileys~ The vermicelli is simmered with the flavor of crab and fatty pork (Bro kept digging the claypot for his favorite fatty pork bits~ we found 3 little pieces for him ~ great satisfaction huh, bro)

Don't you think we have ordered too many dishes just for 4 smileys

Dessert to wrap up our meal ~ Mango Sticky Rice

This is my liking~ Tapioca with Coconut Milk smileys

Many thankssmileys to Kate and Robin for the dinner treat. Such a great pleasure to celebrate together on your wedding anniversary day! smileys

Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro

I usually dislike MONDAYs but today is an exception as I am looking forward to enjoy a good meal at Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro ^.~ I have heard about this place which served very fresh and delicious raw and cooked seafood. I love seafood but may get itch (allergy) when I eat too much. I just cannot resist those fresh clams, oysters, mussels, lobsters, scallops, prawns, crabs, sashimi (tuna/salmon/swordfish etc) ~ SLURP!! Aahhh, eat first and worry later, hehe ^0^

Reservation made @7:30pm and we reach there on time. Never expect that the place is almost full (indoor + alfresco) on a Monday night. So I suggest that you make reservation in advance. For those who are driving, the parking lots are quite limited and here at this place, they provide valet service : )

Here is their long menu list @_@ They also serve over 100 label of wines around the world @ competitive prices.

Currently, they have daily promotions and here's the Monday's promotion.

There are 7 of us so we can share and try more dishes. This is the Hot Seafood Platter which serves Char-Grilled Lobster, Wild King Prawns, Grilled Fish Brochettes, Calamari Poppers, Greenlip Mussels, Littleneck Clams (such kawaii names^.^), Oysters Mornay, Grilled Baby Octopus and Salad (the salad dressing is yummy with a tingy flavor)

A closer shot to make you drool ~ haha ^o^

Next, we order another Cold Seafood Platter which serves Steamed Lobster, Tuna Tartar (this is absolutely delicious ~ the sesame and wasabi make tuna so tasty), Live Oysters, NZ Greenlip Mussels, Littleneck Clams, Cooked Live Prawns, Seasoned Cuttlefish, Smoked King Salmon and with some veg garnishing.

A close-up shot on the platter ^.~

Hey a surprise visit by Neko-chan who comes to join us for dinner and it is eyeing on the big prawns ~ LOL ^0^

Those hot and cold platters are only the appetizers. Our main courses are coming up next ~ We are indeed very hungry and eat a lot :p

Trawler Catch of the Day ~ Hapuku.
Not sure if this fish fillet is pan-seared, baked or char grilled.

House Fish & Chips (Battered) served with Salad and Chips : ) Yummy!

Squid Ink Linguine with Unagi ~ Well, their pasta is a bit disappointing as the linguine is under cooked ~ a lil' hard. I order Aglio Olio and share with my colleague ~ it's little salty and the spaghetti is under cooked and not soft.

NZ Greenlip Mussels with Spicy Tomato is on the Monday's promotion menu list.
Look the meat ~ so firm and juicy ^.~

No desserts for us as we are so full *_* Next visit, I must try their Raspberry Creme Brulee and Ivory White Chocolate Parfait with Raspberry Jelly Coulis & Almond Nougatine.

Well, Greenwood Fish Market & Bistro is a great place for casual group dining ~ enjoying a delightful meal and chilling out with your favorite wine ^.~

Have a wonderful week ahead, Cheerios : )

Keisuke Tokyo Ramen @PARCO Marina Bay

Headed down to PARCO Marina Bay for the 2nd time and wanted to try the Japanese eateries located on the 3rd floor. As I'm having lunch and feel like eating noodles, I went to look around for ramen. Then, I spotted a black-theme interior and nice cozy ramen restaurant named "Keisuke Tokyo". Apparently, this is their first overseas restaurant and it seems that Keisuke Tokyo is quite popular in Japan too.

What attracted me is that their ramen soup is not Tonkotsu ~ pork bone based and it is fried shrimp-based broth! I have not tried it before and wondering does it taste like our local Prawn Mee Soup :p

A refreshing prawn salad ~ love the salad dressing and lots of mayo! However, the waffle bowl was cold and not crispy at all :(

A must order for this delicious juicy shrimp long gyoza!

Vinegar, Chili oil and soya sauce for dipping your dishes

Such a unique bowl to serve my ramen ~ I wish to have one for serving my instant noodle too ^0^ Look at the garnishing, eggs, and thick shrimp miso broth ^.~ I like the noodle ~ thick and QQ. I can accept the rich flavor of the broth but some may find it slightly salty.

Hopefully I can come back to PARCO soon and try the other Japanese eateries ^.~

Crave over HoT PoTs @_@

Ever since I returned from my Tokyo trip, I have not been swimming regularly at the gym which I used to do so :( I am afraid to see those kilos increasing on the weighing machine @.@ and must make an effort to shed more kilos : ) so that I can eat more without feeling much guilty haha ^o^Lately, my friend and I have craving for Hot Pot/Steamboat. For two consecutive weekends, after swim, we went to our favorite restaurants for 鸳鸯火锅 ~ Yuan Yang Hot Pot @ The Magic of ChongQing Hot Pot and Promfret Steamboat @ Ting Heng Seafood Restaurant.

So let me start off with The Magic of ChongQing Hot Pot, Suntec City Branch ("MCQHP") We decided to have ala-carte hot pot buffet and ordered a duo flavored soup - 麻辣 má là (spicy) and Herbal Chicken broth (non-spicy) for our hotpot ~ 鸳鸯火锅. There are many dishes to choose from the menu such as sliced assorted meats, vegetables, fishballs, quail eggs, mushrooms, seafood and many more ^.~ Besides these dishes, there are sweet and savory dim sum served to us too ^.~ DroOling huh! Every time after swim, I tend to get very hungry and thirsty. I was so hungry and tugged in fast to fill my empty stomach hehe :p

The 麻辣 má là soup is too spicy for me and it numbs my tastebud. But I like to dip prawns and meat/fishballs for some of its spicy flavor : ) The chicken broth may initially taste a bit blend but after all the dishes are put into it and simmer for sometime, the taste is good too.

Here's one of the sweet item which served to us ~ (1) Glutinuous Rice Cake which the outer layer is pan-fried with egg and then coated with icing sugar. Very chewy. (2) Water Chestnut Jelly. I like this. (3) 馒头 (man tou) ~ Dipped this fried bun with condensed milk ~ super yummy!

Dipping sauce is a must for enhancing the flavor of your hotpot dishes. In this sauce, there is a combination of garlic and chili in oil, sesame sauce, sesame oil and chili sauce.
Thumbs up for this sauce!

See our hot pot full of "treasures" ~ slurp!

Next, off to Ting Heng Seafood Restaurant at Tiong Poh Road for our all-time favorite ~ Promfret Steamboat. They also serve other zi cha dishes such as pepper/chili crabs, sweet and sour porks, spare ribs, claypot dishes etc. We wanted to order their famous roast chicken but there's only 2 of us and just too much for us. Again, we were hungry haha ~ just took 2 photos for my blogpost :)

The soup is tasty as it has herb ingredients and dried sole fillets. The promfret are very fresh but not many pieces served :( We love yams and golden needle mushrooms!

Yes! Tau Kee ~ I never miss this dish to go with my steamboat! Do NOT put all Crispy Tau Kee into the pot as they turn soft quickly. You should do it like the shabu shabu way. Hold a piece of the tau kee with your chopsticks or put in the ladle and soak for just a few seconds. With the soup flavor went into the Tau Kee, the taste is so yummy! Another dish that I like is their assorted prawn/fish/meat balls. All are handmade and QQ!

Well well, I think I should not go for any more hotpots/steamboats. Although it was a healthy soupy meal but the dishes that we ordered were not so ^0^ Hmm...I also mustn't forget to exercise/swim regularly too *v*
